Shoot a hostage video hope it all comes through
If that girl from the desert could see you now she’d be ashamed of you
Heard from a friend of a friend I could find a quick fix
Lost all my money in Michigan
Shoot a hostage video, hope it all works out
Talk like you’re a success, don’t show a lick of doubt
If your friends could read your thoughts would they put the book down
“I love this kid, but he’s an idiot. He writes good songs but he’s so gullible.”
Somewhere off in a small Michigan city.
Scammed on the internet lost my dignity
Gimme a fix, gimme a fix gimme my money back you son of a bitch
Lost my money to man named Cooper who lied about his name
Lost my money to a woman named Brown who did the same.
God it happened to a couple of friends all cos we’re marks who wanna trust
May our love still never rust
Shoot a hostage video hope it all comes through
If those girls you dated saw you now they’d be ashamed of you
Heard from a friend of a friend but i should’ve asked someone first
Then they heard it from me and were all scammed worse
Never shoot a hostage video hoping for a good return
I don’t believe in hell. But somehow the evil will burn.

Sometimes I don’t know how i ended here
I used to blame my parents in the way back when
Now see Chicago shining within my reach
I know I still did better than them
Lost or not out here, whatever, your stupid quote unquote little broken heart
Whatever mistake you made whatever faces may haunt
Union Terminal and Transit Center
Enough difference to change the tone
Missed my train by a couple of blocks
Three days till the next one home
Right there I remember my parents
Hardly ever left California, if they ever did it was likely never ever for fun.
Maybe I overreacted
Said some shit I probably shouldn't say
I needed something to curse the sky so I called out her name.
So far from what you’re running from
In the heart of the far away
it always catches up in some shape or form.
It always catches up someday.
Chicago I will catch up with you
I hope to have much more to say
I just hope I don't miss my train
